The Seabourn Ovation is coming to Port!

🚢 Cruise Ship is Arriving!!! ⚓

The Seabourn Ovation, carrying approximately 500 passengers, will be in Shelburne Harbour on Wednesday, September 9, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.!

There will be lots happening throughout the day! Museums will be open, including the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre. Museum staff will also be offering walking tours throughout the day, giving visitors a chance to explore and learn more about Shelburne’s rich history.

A mini Farmers’ Market will be set up at the Guild Hall, and District 33 Winery will be set up in front of their Water Street location.

🚧 Please note: There will be some street closures during the visit, with barricades at the top and bottom of Ann Street and at the top of St. Patrick’s Lane. Please plan accordingly.

Stop downtown, check out everything happening, say hello to our visitors, and have a look at the beautiful Seabourn Ovation while she’s in port!

🐺 BE COYOTE SMART

Coyotes are permanent residents throughout Nova Scotia, and seeing or hearing one from time to time is not unusual. Coyotes are normally shy and fearful of people; however, feeding coyotes, directly or indirectly, can cause them to lose that natural fear.

Residents can help keep coyotes wild and our community safe by taking a few simple precautions:

• Never intentionally feed coyotes or leave food outdoors.
• Keep garbage securely stored in tightly closing or locking containers.
• Manage compost carefully and avoid adding meat, fat, bones or seafood shells.
• Clean up spilled birdseed and consider bringing feeders indoors at night.
• Keep cats and small pets indoors, particularly after dark.
• Always walk dogs on a leash.

🌲 If you encounter a coyote:
BACK AWAY • ACT BIG • MAKE NOISE

Do not run if a coyote approaches, as this may cause it to chase you. Be aware of your surroundings when enjoying trails and outdoor spaces, and consider carrying a whistle, air horn or other noisemaker.

☎️ Unusual or aggressive coyote behaviour can be reported to your nearest Natural Resources office or by calling 1-800-565-2224.

💦 Splash Pad Closing Day! 💦

As summer winds down, it’s almost time to say goodbye to another splash pad season!

📅 The Splash Pad will close for the season on Monday, September 14th.

🚻 The washrooms will remain open for the time being. We’ll provide an update when a closing date for the washrooms has been determined.

Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the Splash Pad this summer! We hope you made lots of fun memories, and we look forward to welcoming you back next season! ☀️💙
