Harold was born and raised in Shelburne and has been married to his wife Penny for 50 years. They have two children, Megan and Jason, who both live in the Shelburne area. Harold and Penny have four grandchildren - Aidan, Evan, Haley and Addison.
Harold began teaching at Shelburne Regional High School in 1967, leaving only to obtain his teaching degree at Teacher’s College, and further education at Dalhousie University.
During his time at Shelburne Regional High School, he was involved in coaching many of the sports teams as the Physical Education teacher. After that, he began teaching Math, Science and Biology - which is his secondary education. Harold finished his teaching career as the Principal of SRHS retiring in 2003. Today, he continues to substitute at SRHS from time to time.
He was very active in Junior Golf for a number of years, having served on the Nova Scotia Golf Association’s Junior Committee for over 10 years. He was also the Director of Junior Golf for the NSGA for two years; taking two teams to Canadian Championships. On a local level, Harold served several terms as president of Shelburne County Golf & Country Club/River Hills Golf Club.
Having been involved in recreation for most of his life Harold has a deep interest in the programs and facilities of the Town and its surrounding area.
Harold is looking forward to serving the residents of the town and helping the Town move forward.
